Preserving the future About the Szeklers The Seklers (Székelys) live in Seklerland (Székely-land) which they organized into 5 administrative jurisdictions, referred to as széks; these are: Maros-szék, Csík-szék, Udvarhely-szék, Három-szék and Aranyos-szék. They wear their characteristic national costumes, eat from their own cousine and live in towns and villages which are very clean. The Székely villages can be recognized easily, because of the characteristic carved-wood gates opening to the courtyards, referred to as Székely gates.
According to the legend, "székely" people are originated from the Hun nation. The main character of their folk costum is the home - made raw - materials (hemp, flax and wool) of their clothes. A rather characteristic piece of their clothes is the "stockings" worn by men. They are made of wool and it has raw - white colour. They are decorated with red or black strings You can learn more about the Szeklers, Szekler folk art in our knowledgebase and on our Szeklerland Portal Eco-school School of life Buy gifts magic GobeGold buy with money that increase real |
